Group Addresses
Route one official address to multiple mailbox recipients on a verified domain.
A group address (alias) delivers mail sent to one address (for example team@health.go.ke) to multiple destination inboxes. Manage them from Overview → Group addresses.
Group addresses are not separate mailboxes. They expand at delivery time to the listed recipients. Each officer still reads mail in their own mailbox or webmail.
Requirements
- ICT administrator or Authorizing Officer role (
domains:manage) - At least one verified domain
- Destination addresses must be valid email addresses (usually mailboxes on your institution, but external addresses are accepted)
Create a group address
- Go to Group addresses → New alias.
- Pick a verified domain and enter the local part (before
@). - Add one or more destination addresses: each must receive a copy.
- Save. Toggle Active to start or pause delivery.
Edit or remove
Open any row to change destinations or the local part. Delete removes the alias; mail to that address will no longer route unless you recreate it.
Active vs inactive
Inactive aliases are ignored at delivery time. Use this to pause a shared address during reorganisation without deleting history.
Errors to expect
| Issue | Cause |
|---|---|
| Domain not in picker | Domain is not verified yet |
| Duplicate address | Another alias already uses that source address |
| Invalid destination | A destination is not a valid email address |
